Healing After an Injury - How Chiropractics Can Help
After receiving an injury, most people head to the Emergency Room to receive medical care. This care may include x-rays, bandages, air boots, pain medications, and instructions on limited use and mobility over a period of six to eight weeks.
Eventually, the cast, air boot, or bandages will come off, and you’ll be left with a part of your body that is healed, and yet not quite back to normal. And that’s because when we don’t use a part of our body as we normally would, resting it so it can heal, many of our soft tissues atrophy and become stiff. So even though we are healed from the initial injury, there is additional healing that needs to take place.
And this is where seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis can significantly help.
The Benefits of Chiropractic Care When Healing from an Injury
Working with a chiropractor can lead to faster injury healing. Here are just some of the ways chiropractic can benefit you:
Fewer Aches and Pains
One of the biggest benefits of seeking chiropractic care is getting some much-needed relief from the common aches and pains that occur with an injury. By adjusting your spine and joints, pressure is taken off of soft tissues, providing relief from pain.
Supports Immune Health
When your spine is correctly aligned, it allows all of the systems in your body to work optimally. This includes your immune system. And the better your immune system works, the faster you can recover from an injury.
Improves Mobility
The biggest challenge we see when clients are recovering from an injury is limited mobility. This has to do with the soft tissue atrophy and stiffness I mentioned previously.
Chiropractors can help to relieve this stiffness and tension so you can reclaim some of the flexibility and mobility you had before the injury.
